Carney's Liberal Party wins election
Mark Carney's Liberal Party won Monday's parliamentary elections in Canada, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported. "Mark Carney's Liberals have held on to power, winning enough seats in the 45th federal election to form a minority government," reported another broadcaster CTV News. Carney, expected to remain prime minister, has been projected to win a seat in Parliament for the first time, from Ottawa's Nepean riding.

US President Donald Trump's recent call for free passage of US ships through the Suez Canal has triggered condemnation. On Saturday, Trump posted on Truth Social that US military and commercial vessels should be allowed to travel through both the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal free of charge. Samaa Soliman, a senator, affirmed on Monday that "only Egypt is responsible for securing and protecting the Suez Canal".
