In recent days, the kapok trees across Xiamen, Fujian province, have entered their blooming season. Clusters of fiery red blossoms crown the branches like blazing flames and glow as resplendent as crimson clouds. Beneath scarlet-flowered canopies, fallen petals form a vermilion carpet reflecting sunlight.

Each March and April, these kapok trees transform into distinctive landmarks across Xiamen's parks, streets and neighborhoods. As a gentle spring breeze whispers through the air, playful birds frolic among the branches while the kapok flowers blaze like torches, painting half the sky in their fiery red hues.
