On March 11, guided over the phone by staff members at the Sucheng Power Supply Service Center of the State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company, a woman completed the "one household with multiple people" service in just 10 minutes through the online State Grid app. According to calculations, this household will save about 220 yuan ($30.4) annually on electricity bills.

Jiangsu province has implemented the "one household with multiple people" policy for tiered electricity pricing since 2021. This means that households with five or more members can apply, and they can increase their monthly tiered electricity base by 100 kWh. In January of this year, Jiangsu further refined the policy. It clarified that "separated individuals" within the same community, whose household registration differs from their actual residence, are also eligible to enjoy the electricity benefits associated with "one household with multiple people".

After the release of the new policy, State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company quickly responded by establishing a service mechanism featuring "active discovery, precise outreach, and comprehensive assistance". This mechanism aims to extend the benefits of the "electricity pricing for households with multiple people" to more residents.

"We have thoroughly analyzed the electricity service records from the past five years, utilizing big data analysis technology to precisely identify eligible users who have not yet applied. We proactively reach out to these users via phone calls, ensuring they are fully informed and can fully enjoy the benefits," said Jiang Dan, head of the business team at the Sucheng Power Supply Service Center of State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company. Additionally, green channels and dedicated service windows have been established in two power supply business halls and six government-affiliated power supply service points.

For the elderly special group, the company also utilizes the convenience service station to offer mobile door-to-door assistance services. Uncle Ma, 73 years old, has his household registration in Suqian city, while his daughter is registered in Siyang county. To make it easier to take care of the elderly, his daughter's family lives with Uncle Ma in Suqian. Upon discovering that the household met the policy requirements, a staff member from the convenience service station arrived at their doorstep with mobile equipment and completed the business transaction in just 15 minutes. "I'm not familiar with smartphones, but thanks to their assistance, I can save 18 yuan on my monthly electricity bill!" Uncle Ma said, expressing great satisfaction.

Currently, the company has handled the "one household, multiple residents" service for 3,696 households in the city, with 135 of them receiving on-site assistance. It is anticipated that the annual burden per household will be reduced by approximately 200 yuan, resulting in a cumulative policy dividend of about 740,000 yuan.
