55 victims identified after DC plane crash
Officials have positively identified 55 of the 67 people killed in Wednesday's midair collision between a US Army helicopter and a passenger jet over the Potomac River in Washington, Fire Chief John Donnelly said on Sunday. The Army Corps of Engineers is surveying and preparing to begin salvage operations on Monday to remove the wreckage from the river. The wreckage is being moved to a hangar at Washington Reagan National Airport. Much of the Potomac River remains off-limits to all vessels except authorized boats.
LEBANON
March staged against Israeli occupation
Thousands of Lebanese marched on Sunday toward the outskirts of towns still under Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon's eastern and central sectors, according to local officials and media reports. Demonstrators gathered near eight border villages, renewing calls for Israel's withdrawal. Hassan Sheet, the mayor of Kafr Kila, said the marches aimed to pressure authorities to take decisive action in reclaiming occupied Lebanese territory.
