Construction begins on new port line

Construction of the Jiujiang Hongguang port special railway project commenced on Monday, said a State builder participating in the project. Apart from the special railway, which has a total length of 6.9 kilometers, the 1.27 billion yuan ($174.3 million) project also includes establishment of a major loading and unloading station, aiming to promote the integration of rail and water transport, enhance the functionality of Jiujiang Port and drive the integration of transportation systems, said Fang Guokai, project manager of China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp.

Air passenger trips hit record high

Chinese airlines have recorded over 700 million passenger trips so far this year, marking a record high in the civil aviation history of the country, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said. As of Sunday, the country's airlines reported a total of 700.48 million passenger trips since the start of the year, the CAAC said on Monday.
