Shale oil base achieves big output
The output of China's first national-level shale oil demonstration zone, located in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has exceeded 1 million metric tons so far this year, China National Petroleum Corp said. A total of 306 wells have been built in the Jimsar national-level shale oil demonstration zone in the Junggar Basin of Xinjiang since it was established four years ago.
Yuan weakens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 72 pips to 7.1982 against the US dollar on Wednesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
