Rural deputy blazes trail to prosperity

Yu Shaorong, director of the village committee of Wuxing, Leigu town, Beichuan Qiang autonomous county in Southwest China's Sichuan province, said she is a decisive person in the eyes of her fellow villagers.

From cultivating herbs to boost income to building roads for better connectivity, she dedicated herself to helping villagers embrace a better life.

As a deputy to the 13th and 14th National People's Congress, Yu focuses on improving livelihoods of rural residents, and listening to voices from the grassroots.
