State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company switches electricity on for southern connection project
Power supply to the southern connection project of the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge became operational recently, providing consistent power supply for the timely completion of the project.
The north-south highway connection project of the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge connects the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, linking the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway and the Jiangyi Expressway from north to south.
After the project is completed, it will play a key role in accelerating the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It will also help improve the regional expressway network and expand the benefits of cross-river passages.
The southern connection project is located in Changzhou, Jiangsu province. With a total length of about 9.59 kilometers, it was constructed according to the standards of a dual six-lane highway, covering the Changzhou High-tech Zone hub and Binjiang River interchange. The project was fully connected in November last year, with the construction of electro-mechanical, civil engineering, traffic and other supplementary projects currently in progress. The plan is to meet the conditions for handover and acceptance by the end of this year.
"We regularly communicate with the project organizers on the progress of the construction to ensure that there is advanced supply of electricity where the project is being built," Jiang Yilun said, a technical specialist at the State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company.
The southern connection project involves a total of three power supply expansion projects, with a total applied power capacity of 11,290 kilovolt-amperes, all supplied by dual power sources. The State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company, based on the progress of the southern connection project construction works, has reversed the timeline and coordinated construction in advance. The company actively liaised with major offices in the Xinbei district of Changzhou city, the water resources bureau, the planning and construction bureau and other departments, to discuss solutions to difficulties such as crossing the Desheng River tower line and laying cable conduits along National Highway 346, making every effort to ensure safety, quality and completion within the construction period.
"Now all the supplementary construction works of the project have entered the final stages, and the overall construction progress has reached 98 percent," said Liang Huajun, an engineer at the Changtai Southern Connection Project Office. The builders are seizing this golden period to accelerate its construction process, he said.
