President vows to bolster China-Kiribati relations
President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Sunday to Taneti Maamau on his reelection as president of Kiribati, expressing his willingness to jointly promote the steady and long-term development of the bilateral relationship in order to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
Calling Kiribati a good friend, partner and brother, Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Kiribati ties.
Since the resumption of bilateral diplomatic relations in September 2019, political mutual trust between the two countries has strengthened, practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and people-to-people and other exchanges have intensified, Xi said.
China and Kiribati always understand and support each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns, he added.
Maamau will serve his third term as president of the Pacific island nation.
Xi greets Chapo on election as Mozambique president
President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Saturday to Daniel Francisco Chapo on his election as president of the Republic of Mozambique.
Xi noted that China and Mozambique share a traditional friendship. In recent years, political mutual trust between the two countries has deepened, leading to fruitful practical cooperation and steadfast mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, Xi said.
Noting that he places great importance on the development of China-Mozambique relations, Xi said he is willing to work together with president-elect Chapo to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promote traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and continually advance the China-Mozambique comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, delivering greater benefits to the people of both countries.
Key discourses on Healthy China initiative published
A compilation of excerpts from discourses on the Healthy China initiative by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has been published by the Central Party Literature Press.
The book, which features 10 themes, brings together 292 excerpts from more than 140 important speeches and written works by Xi between November 2012 and September 2024. Some of the passages are made public for the first time.
The discourses are of great significance in developing China's health sector, in order to lay a solid health foundation for building China into a strong country in all respects, according to the publisher.
