Export control rules on dual-use items issued
Premier Li Qiang has signed a decree of the State Council to unveil regulations on export controls of dual-use items that will take effect on Dec 1. Dual-use items are goods, technologies and services that may be used either for civilian or military purposes — for the latter, especially goods involved in the design, development, production or use of weapons of mass destruction, and in their means of delivery. According to trade facilitation measures included in the regulations, the registration system of exporters for dual-use items will be abolished, and the transparency and standardization of export control policies for dual-use items will be enhanced.
Tibetan materials digitized at new center
The Xizang autonomous region launched China's first digital resource center for Tibetan medicine and astrology on Friday. Established by the Hospital of Traditional Tibetan Medicine in the regional capital Lhasa, the center features 10 databases, including some focused on Tibetan medical materials and literature related to Tibetan medicine and astrology. It also houses copies of rare Tibetan medical and astrological texts dating back to the eighth century. The digitization efforts began in 2006, with over 40 researchers working to collect and preserve valuable literature not only from Xizang but also from provincial-level regions such as Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia and Liaoning.
