Australia called on to objectively view China's development, respect its core interests, major concerns
Top legislator Zhao Leji expressed on Monday the hope that Australia will objectively and positively view China's development and respect China's core interests and major concerns.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, made the remarks while meeting in Beijing with Sue Lines, president of the Australian Senate.
He said that as the bilateral relationship has returned to a track of healthy and stable development, China is willing to work with Australia to enhance political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the establishment of a more mature, stable and fruitful comprehensive strategic partnership.
Both sides should consolidate cooperation in traditional fields, expand cooperation in emerging areas, and promote a fair and open trade and investment environment, he said.

She expressed hope for further promoting practical cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, the green economy and fighting climate change.
The Australian Senate is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the NPC to contribute to the development of bilateral ties, she added.
