Premier congratulates Paralympic athletes for remarkable achievements
Premier Li Qiang on Friday met with the Chinese sports delegation for the 17th Summer Paralympic Games at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, encouraging the athletes to continue to work hard and strive to achieve even greater accomplishments for the country and its people.
Li, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, warmly congratulated all athletes, coaches and staff.
The delegation ranked first in both the gold medal tally and overall medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
The remarkable achievements reflect the tremendous progress in China's cause for the disabled, showcasing the strength, spirit and image of China in the new era, Li said.
He expressed the hope that people with disabilities will fully demonstrate their intelligence and wisdom while the whole of society can pay attention to the cause for people with disabilities to create better development conditions for them.
Top legislator meets with Cambodian King, Queen Mother
China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and his mother, former Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, in Beijing on Friday.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that China and Cambodia are ironclad friends who share weal and woe and help each other. The leaders of the two countries have jointly led the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future into a new era of high quality, high level and high standards.
Zhao said China is willing to work with Cambodia to continue implementing the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enrich the connotation of Diamond Hexagon cooperation framework, promote the construction of the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor, and push for deeper cooperation.
Sihamoni and Monineath extended warm congratulations on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. They said that Cambodia adheres to the one-China principle.
Vice-President: Nation committed to further high-level opening-up
China will further expand high-level opening-up and create a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized first-class business environment, Vice-President Han Zheng said when meeting with Robert Maersk Uggla, chair of the board of A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) in Beijing on Friday.
Since China launched reform and opening-up, Maersk has carried out mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation with Chinese shipping companies and achieved tangible results, Han said. He welcomed companies from all over the world, including Denmark's Maersk, to achieve better development in China.
Robert Maersk Uggla spoke highly of China's economic and social development, saying that Maersk attaches great importance to cooperation with China and will promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
