Foxconn busy recruiting ahead of iPhone launch

Foxconn, the world's leading electronics manufacturer, has hired approximately 50,000 workers at its factory in Zhengzhou, Henan province, as it prepares for the launch of Apple's iPhone 16. Many coaches carrying new employees were seen arriving at the Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park on Tuesday. Sources told Xinhua News Agency that the factory hired around 50,000 people last month and the recruitment will continue into the coming months. Many of this year's recruits said they are not new employees but returnees attracted by the factory's promise of generous bonuses for workers who stay for more than three months.

Foreign experts take part in intl green forum

About 70 foreign experts from countries including the United States, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Cambodia and Thailand attended an international symposium titled "Environment, Development and Human Rights: Green and Low-carbon Development in the Process of Modernization" in Beijing on Thursday. Before hosting the symposium, the organizers led the participants on visits to the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Zhejiang province, helping some gain an in-depth understanding of various initiatives such as the high-quality development of new energy, rural vitalization and sand prevention and control efforts in Inner Mongolia.

Courts conclude 1.9m environmental cases

Chinese courts concluded approximately 1.9 million environmental and resource-related cases from 2014 to last year, the Supreme People's Court said on Thursday. Among them, 1.03 million cases were handled during the 2019-2023 period, up 18.9 percent from the previous five-year period. As part of the effort to make court trials more professional, the number of special judiciary organs for environmental and resource-related cases at various levels rose to 2,813 last year from 134 in 2014, the top court said.
