Former senior Jiangxi legislator faces probe
Hong Lihe, a former senior legislator in East China's Jiangxi province, is under investigation on suspicion of severely violating Party disciplines and national laws, according to a statement released on Wednesday. Hong, formerly a deputy head of the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress, is being investigated by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, it said.
Knife attack injures 3 at metro station
A knife-wielding man was arrested after he attacked people at the Hechuan Road Station on Shanghai's No 9 metro line on Wednesday morning, leaving three injured, police said. They said the attack happened at 8:28 am at the subway station in Minhang district in southwestern Shanghai. The injured have been sent to hospital for medical treatment. The station was temporarily closed following the incident, but reopened later. The suspect has been identified as a 54-year-old man surnamed Shen. The case is under further investigation.
