Tesla battery factory breaks ground
US carmaker Tesla Inc broke ground on a mega factory in Shanghai on Thursday to manufacture its energy-storage batteries, Megapacks, a project hailed by the company as a "milestone". The new plant spans an area of about 200,000 square meters, with a total investment of around 1.45 billion yuan ($203.94 million), according to the administration of Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
DHL opens EV center in Shanghai
Global logistics giant DHL Group has established a center of excellence in Shanghai for electric vehicles (EVs) made in China, aiming to provide end-to-end, integrated logistics services for EV products such as batteries, motors and charging infrastructure. It is the first EV logistics center the group has opened in China. It had previously built such centers in countries including Indonesia, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.
