NASA, SpaceX launch 30th resupply mission to space station

LOS ANGELES -- NASA and SpaceX launched the 30th commercial resupply services mission to the International Space Station on Thursday.

SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft lifted off at 4:55 pm Eastern Time Thursday from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in the US state of Florida.

SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft will deliver over 6,000 pounds of scientific research, supplies, and hardware to the orbiting laboratory.

Among the supplies onboard are Astrobees, a student-developed satellite to track sea ice, and gamma-ray-spotting BurstCube, according to NASA.

The spacecraft is expected to spend about a month attached to the orbiting outpost before it returns to Earth with research and cargo, splashing down off the coast of Florida, according to NASA.
