Xi's article emphasizes Party self-reform
An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on ensuring that self-reform of the Party is carried forward, is published on Saturday.
The article by Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, is published in this year's sixth issue of Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.
The article states that resolving the unique challenges faced by a major political party like the CPC is inevitably a long and arduous process, which necessitates that exercising full and rigorous governance over the Party is an ongoing task and the Party's self-reform is also an ongoing endeavor.
The article calls for always bearing in mind the Party's long-term governance, the nation's enduring stability and people's well-being, and making it a long-term strategy and an eternal endeavor to exercise full and rigorous governance over the Party.
It is essential to adhere to maintaining strategic determination to carry on the great self-reform of the Party to the fullest extent, the article said.
Premier urges improving business innovation
Premier Li Qiang highlighted on Friday the necessity to focus on stabilizing social expectations and the nation's economic growth, pledging greater policy support to boost public confidence in the economy.
Speaking at the fourth plenary session of the State Council, China's Cabinet, Li stressed the government's commitment to harnessing the role of businesses as the mainstay for innovation, advancing the transformation and upgrade of traditional sectors and supporting the growth of emerging sectors with better policies.
He reiterated the need to develop new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions.
The premier called for greater resolve and strides in deepening reform and opening-up, saying that those at the grassroots level must be encouraged to play pioneering roles.
It is important to adopt prudent and orderly steps to defuse risks in key sectors, he said, adding that timely measures must be adopted to address emerging issues.
The government will take concrete measures to ensure and improve public well-being, secure the safety net for the people and address their immediate concerns, he added.
