Spectators witnessed a marvel on Monday as a 99-meter-long golden dragon-head centipede kite flew into the sky in Weifang, Shandong province, known as the International Kite Capital. The kite was flown to celebrate eryue'er, the second day of the second Chinese lunar month, also known as longtaitou, or Dragon Head Raising Day.

"It took us 66 days to create this dragon-head kite. The dragon's body consists of 56 sections, symbolizing the 56 ethnic groups in China," said Wang Yongxun, an inheritor of Weifang kite making.
