Former chairman of Everbright arrested
China's Supreme People's Procuratorate has ordered the arrest of Tang Shuangning, former chairman of China Everbright Group, for alleged embezzlement and bribery. The arrest of Tang, who was also secretary of the company's committee of the Communist Party of China, followed the conclusion of an investigation carried out by the National Commission of Supervision, the SPP said on Monday. Further investigations into the case are underway.
301 ancient tombs unearthed in Shandong
A total of 301 ancient tombs were recently unearthed in East China's Shandong province, according to the Archaeology Institute of Jinan. The tombs, which span from the Warring States period (475-221 BC) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), were discovered in Jinan, capital of Shandong. In addition to tombs, other ruins including two kiln sites, three ash pits and eight wells, were also excavated. From these sites, 850 sets of artifacts, including clay pots, ceramic plates and copper coins were unearthed.
Quantum computer completes 30k tasks
Origin Wukong, China's independently developed third-generation superconducting quantum computer, has completed 33,871 quantum computing tasks for global users since it became operational on Jan 6, local authorities said. As of 10 am Monday, the number of remote accesses to the computer from more than 60 countries around the world exceeded 350,000. The number of remote accesses by overseas users from the United States ranked first, according to the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center. The Origin Wukong went into operation at the Origin Quantum Computing Technology (Hefei) Co in Anhui province. The quantum computer is powered by Wukong, a 72-qubit indigenous superconducting quantum chip. It is China's latest and most advanced programmable and deliverable superconducting quantum computer.
