Eczacibasi claims title, Tianjin wins historic bronze at FIVB Women's Club Worlds
HANGZHOU -- Türkiye's Eczacibasi overcame 4-time winner VakifBank in full sets to win its third Volleyball Women's Club World Championship here on Sunday, while China's Tianjin Bohai Bank made it to the podium for the first time after beating Brazil's Dentil Praia.
Eczacibasi defeated VakifBank in a thrilling 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9) battle. Serbian star opposite Tijana Boskovic tallied 27 points for Eczacibasi, while Jordan Thompson earned a match-high 33 points for VakifBank.
"The game was very tough and close. Both teams could win, but we are united and reacted better. We are very happy to win the trophy," said Eczacibasi head coach Ferhat Akbas.
In the bronze medal match, Tianjin fought hard to get past Dentil Praia 25-23, 25-20, 17-25, 25-19 to claim its first medal at the Club Worlds.
Dentil Praia's opposite Tainara Lemes Santos scored 32 points, while Wang Yizhu led Tianjin with 20 points.
