The first shipment of soybeans imported from South Africa — 39,300 metric tons —reached Nansha Port in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, recently.

South Africa became the fourth African country to export soybeans to China, following Ethiopia, Benin and Tanzania, according to the Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration, which guarded the vessel upon its arrival.

China and South Africa signed an agreement in June last year regarding the quarantine of soybeans imported to China, as cooperation in agriculture between China and Africa has been growing in recent years.
