Former Chongqing vice-mayor arrested

The Supreme People's Procuratorate has ordered the arrest of Xiong Xue, former vice-mayor of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, for suspected bribe-taking, the SPP said on Monday. The case was transferred to procuratorial authorities for examination and prosecution following the conclusion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision. Further handling of the case is currently underway.

'Most beautiful veterans' honored

Chinese authorities on Monday released a list of those who've won the title of "Most Beautiful Veterans", highlighting the exemplary deeds of retired military personnel who have selflessly dedicated themselves to the Communist Party of China, the nation and the people. The list was released by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission. It includes a group of veterans from the desert control team in Qiemo county, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and 19 other individuals. Among them, some have committed to afforestation and desert control, some have made breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies, contributing to the development of the aerospace industry, while others have dedicated themselves to the field of education. Their stories embody the values of the vast community of retired soldiers, reflecting their commitment to serving the people and contributing to society.
