Coal stockpiles exceeded record high in China

Coal stockpiles of China's major power plants have exceeded 200 million metric tons, reaching a historic high and enough for 33 days of use, said the National Development and Reform Commission, China's economic regulator, on Thursday.
Additionally, natural gas resources are relatively abundant, and all types of gas storage facilities should be fully stocked before winter, Li Chao, spokesperson of the NDRC, said at a news conference.
Li said the supply capacity is steadily increasing to ensure heating demand in winter.
He also emphasized the need for heightened attention to potential risks posed by extreme weather and other factors that could challenge the energy supply, adding timely preventive measures are crucial to addressing and mitigating these challenges.
