Sci-tech Belt and Road exchange to be held
The first Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange will be held in Chongqing from Nov 6 to 7, and representatives from over 70 countries, regions and international organizations have confirmed their participation, organizers said on Tuesday. The conference will focus on topics such as intergovernmental scientific and technological cooperation. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chongqing People's Government, and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government.
Watchdog probes 54 senior officials
Discipline inspection and supervision organs across China filed around 470,000 cases from January to September, with 54 officials registered at and supervised by the Communist Party of China Central Committee involved, according to a statement issued by the country's top disciplinary watchdog on Sunday. A total of 405,000 individuals were punished during the period, including 34 officials at the provincial and ministerial levels, according to the statement by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. Around 12,000 individuals were probed for offering bribes, it added.
