Key region reports foreign trade growth

The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region saw foreign trade increase to about 2.86 trillion yuan ($392.4 billion) in the first seven months, a rise of 2.9 percent year-on-year, according to Shijiazhuang Customs. Its foreign trade accounted for 12.1 percent of the country's total in the period. From January to July, the region's imports reached 2.1 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.6 percent, while its exports amounted to nearly 754.09 billion yuan, up 6.7 percent year-on-year. The region's imports from, and exports to, the European Union, the United States, Australia and Brazil increased in the first seven months of the year, up by 2.1 percent, 0.6 percent, 12 percent and 34.9 percent, respectively.

Transport sector sees steady recovery

China's transport sector maintained a steady recovery in July, adding to evidence of the country's continued economic rebound. The country's freight volume expanded 7.1 percent year-on-year to 4.74 billion metric tons in July, with the pace increasing from 4.3 percent in June, according to the Ministry of Transport. Last month, the country's port throughput rose 6.6 percent year-on-year to 1.43 billion tons.
