Chinese e-commerce giant JD reported, on Wednesday night, its net revenues for the second quarter of this year stood at 287.9 billion yuan ($39.7 billion), an increase of 7.6 percent year-on-year.

Its net income attributable to ordinary shareholders came in at 6.6 billion yuan during the April-June period, compared with 4.4 billion yuan for the same period last year. Its non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) net income reached 8.6 billion yuan, up 31.9 percent year-on-year.

Net service revenues for the second quarter were 54.1 billion yuan, an increase of 30.1 percent on a yearly basis.

"We reported a solid performance for the second quarter both financially and operationally, thanks to JD's enhanced business structure and leading supply chain capabilities," said Xu Ran, CEO of JD.

Xu noted that the number of the company's marketplace merchants more than doubled and reached a new record during the quarter.

Additionally, JD Logistics, JD's logistics arm, operated over 1,600 warehouses as of June 30, which covered an aggregate gross floor area of over 32 million square meters, including warehouse space managed under the JD Logistics Open Warehouse Platform.
