Library gives residents a new chapter in their lives

Many residents in Xusong community in Shandong province have made their way to a recently built library in the neighborhood.

"My family lives nearby and it's summer vacation, so I came to read and recharge my batteries," says Wang Zhihui, a resident in the community in Chongwen street, Guanxian county.

"The environment here is good, and it's quiet, and there are many types of books to choose from," Wang says.

The library is a collaboration of the street administration with local labor unions and the women's federation, and offers special free services to couriers, delivery riders, cleaners and taxi drivers, including hot water, tool kits, medicine, internet access and waterproof clothing.

"In the next step, we will continue to focus on urban and rural library construction and public reading, and actively build a 15-minute quality cultural life circle," says Yang Naide, cultural director of the street administration.
