2 killed in protests after political figure detained
Two people were killed on Monday during protests in southern Senegal after the indictment and detention of opposition figure Ousmane Sonko, a presidential candidate for the 2024 election, the interior ministry said. On Monday, Sonko was charged with fomenting insurrection and his party was dissolved, prompting clashes between protesters and police. The opposition figure has faced a string of legal woes, which he claims have been designed to keep him out of politics and jeopardize his participation in the February 2024 presidential election.

NASA looks out for spacecraft lost in space
NASA is listening for any peep from Voyager 2 after losing contact with the spacecraft billions of kilometers away. Hurtling ever deeper into interstellar space, Voyager 2 has been out of touch ever since flight controllers accidentally sent a wrong command more than a week ago that tilted its antenna away from Earth. The spacecraft's antenna shifted a mere 2 percent, but it was enough to cut communications. Although it is considered a long shot, NASA said on Monday that its huge dish antenna in Canberra is on the lookout for any stray signals from Voyager 2.
