Chinese tyre company to sponsor Uganda Premier League side

KAMPALA -- Uganda Premier League side SC Villa have signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Chinese tyre manufacturing company Linglong Tyre.
The 750,000 US Dollar sponsorship package was unveiled on Thursday at the City Tyres head office in Kampala.
"It's my honour to stand here and announce a partnership with SC Villa," said Cathy Kao, head of International Business of Linglong.
Kao said the company is aware that SC Villa has big potential and hopes the two parties can work together to achieve success in the future.
The sponsorship by Linglong Tyre is the biggest sponsorship package received for a Ugandan club in recent memory.
Linglong will appear on the front of Villa's shirt for the forthcoming season.
SC Villa Members' Trust chairman Gerald Ssendaula thanked Linglong for coming on board.
"On behalf of the entire Villa fraternity, I extend our sincerest thanks to Linglong for their commitment to our club that we will play a vital role in our success and growth for the coming years," said Ssendaula.
SC Villa, who finished third in the 2022-23 Uganda Premier League, have hired Serbian coach Dusan Stojanovic.
Villa are the most successful team in Uganda, having won 16 league titles, nine Uganda Cups and three regional Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Club Championships.
