Russia prepares new national program for data economy development

Putin stressed that Russia learned its lesson when certain international partners suspended technological collaboration with Moscow, adding that, in the technology sector, Russia must develop its competencies in the sense that Moscow needs not only to achieve scientific advancements and "basic solutions" but it must be able to establish an entire technical and production chain.
He underscored that foreign technology dependency "poses a serious threat to the national security" and could threaten Russia's sovereignty.
"Our opponents hoped that we would retreat and surrender but, as we often say in such cases, this is not going to happen. Russia will only go forward and follow its own road but without isolating itself from anyone at the same time," Putin said.
The forum, with the theme of "Computation and Communication. The Quantum World" is considered as one of the most prestigious scientific and practical events in the field of quantum technologies in Russia.
The event was mentioned by Putin during his address at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June, which is not commonly seen, and showed the determination to develop high-tech fields by the Russian government.
The massive turnout and attention given to this forum shows how important developing future technologies and high-tech solutions is for Russia, said Ruslan Yunusov, co-founder of Russian Quantum Center, which is a co-organizer of the scientific conference under the framework of the forum.
He told China Daily that the center, along with its partners such as Rosatom and Russian Railways, met great opportunities to show off their achievements as quantum technologies have indeed taken the center stage.
"But still, the industry in the country needs to attract more graduates and young professionals who want to get to work on the development of future technologies," Yunusov added, noting that the center will provide full supports to young talents to produce real and tangible results.
