Pork prices in China edge down last week

BEIJING - Pork prices in China registered a week-on-week decline from June 5 to June 9, official data shows.

During the period, the average pork price tracked by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was at 18.39 yuan ($2.57) per kilogram, down 0.5 percent from the previous week.

The price was 12.1 percent lower year-on-year, and the decline narrowed by 0.1 percentage points from a week earlier, the data reveals.

There was no big fluctuation in the supply of pork during the period, while the pork demand remained stable. In general, pork prices registered a slight decrease week on week, according to the ministry.
