Some 5,000 live concerts were staged nationwide last year, the latest report by the China Association of Performing Arts states.
These performances were held at music festivals, large arenas such as stadiums, and live house venues.
The number of live shows held in large venues and at music festivals fell by 52 percent year-on-year, with ticket revenue for such performances last year reaching about 1.6 billion yuan ($232.3 million).Revenue from live performances at large venues and music festivals decreased by 60.86 percent year-on-year.
Although live shows staged at large venues were significantly affected by the pandemic, the number of performances held at small live house venues remained high, with ticket revenue accounting for more than 40 percent of the total for the live performance market last year.
"Music shows at small live house venues became the major force of the country's performing arts market in 2021," the report stated.
