Jiangsu sees tourism boom in first quarter
East China's Jiangsu province received 182 million tourist visits from home and abroad in the first quarter, up 60 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the provincial department of culture and tourism. The province's tourism revenue in Q1 totaled 240 billion yuan ($34.92 billion), up 54 percent year-on-year. Earlier this year, Jiangsu formulated measures to accelerate the recovery of the cultural tourism industry, including developing more high-quality tourism products, improving service and establishing a dedicated development fund of 116 million yuan.
Power generation higher in March
Power generation from industrial enterprises, each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan ($2.91 million) in China, rose 5.1 percent year-on-year in March. In the period, the total power generation of the above-mentioned enterprises reached 717.3 billion kilowatt-hours, said the National Development and Reform Commission. Thermal power generation expanded 9.1 percent year-on-year in March, and nuclear power output increased 4.6 percent.
