An expressway section in Serbia, built by a Chinese company, opened to traffic on Saturday. It connects New Belgrade to Surcin.
Construction was done by China Communications Construction Co, a leading global comprehensive service provider of ultra-large infrastructure.
The section was a part of the country's E-763 Expressway, which is 265 kilometers long. It was the first expressway built by a Chinese company in Europe, with a contract value of $70.5 million.
The 7.9-km section has six lanes and two sidewalks (two ways) and a single-direction bicycle lane. It has a designed speed of 80 km per hour.
