SUPPORT CAMPAIGN
China's industry associations and platform enterprises in the catering sector will launch more than 70 activities to boost consumption in 2023, in a campaign organized by the Ministry of Commerce. Various activities, including a forum on the high-quality development of the catering sector, an expo featuring Chinese and international foods, and a cultural festival of Chinese cuisines, will be held over this year, according to MOC official Wang Dongtang.
EXPO IN SHANGHAI
A comprehensive tourism expo, Tourism Plus Shanghai 2023, opened in the city on Tuesday. The expo includes two stages, with the first one running from March 28 to 31 and the second from May 29 to June 1. Covering an area of 600,000 square meters, the expo includes six main exhibitions, more than 90 forums and summits, and 22 competitions and award events. About 5,000 exhibitors will participate in the expo.
CULINARY DELIGHT
Marriott Shenzhen Nanshan is offering a spring menu with selected seasonal ingredients, including palm hearts, river shrimp seeds, Chinese toona and bamboo shoots. Served across a total of 18 options, it includes cold dishes, hot dishes, stews, staples and desserts. The spring cuisine will be available at the hotel's Chinese restaurant on the 44th floor till May 5.
A campaign by Wanda Hotels and Resorts focused on promoting Huaiyang cuisine nationwide came to Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province in Northeast China, when Wanda Vista Shenyang hosted a gala night on March 12. The gala started with a classical dance and presented a feast that combines classic and innovative Huaiyang dishes. Huaiyang cuisine, one of the eight major cuisines in China, originated from regions around the Huaihe and Yangtze rivers, mainly Huai'an and Yangzhou.
PROGRAM LAUNCHED
The China Education Association for International Exchange and TUV Rheinland Group jointly launched the TVET Digital Empowerment Program at Shanghai Marriott Hotel Park-view on March 24. Under the support and guidance of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, the program is an industry-education integration project that focuses on intelligent manufacturing, new energy vehicles, and green and low-carbon development.
