At border port, freight trains flourishing
Suifenhe Port, Heilongjiang province's largest land port on the China-Russia border, has recorded 2,000 trips of inbound and outbound China-Europe freight trains since it opened in August 2018, according to China Railway Harbin Group.
Over the past five years, the number of trains has increased from two a month at the beginning to about 90 a month at the peak.
Outbound trains have reached Germany, Belgium, Poland and Russia, transporting daily necessities, general merchandise, mechanical equipment, electrical products, metals and agricultural products. Goods on returning trains include chemical fertilizers, soybeans and rubber, according to the group.
To ensure the smooth delivery of imports and exports, the group has promoted special transportation plans for different enterprises and has enhanced port clearance efficiency.
During the process, the port accurately notes entry times, train numbers, categories of goods and quantities of good, which improves customs clearance efficiency.
It has also worked closely with customs to open up a green channel, achieving information sharing and smooth electronic transmission of railway customs manifest data.
