Former Chongqing legislator under probe

A former senior legislator in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality is under a probe for suspected severe violations of Party discipline and laws, according to an official statement released on Thursday. Zheng Hong, former vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing People's Congress and former deputy secretary of the standing committee's leading Party members group, is being investigated by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, the statement said.

China accepting bids for overseas shows

China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on Wednesday that it will resume accepting applications for commercial performances involving people from overseas, starting from March 20. The announcement said that local governments should continue to strengthen the management of commercial performance activities, urge performance organizers to implement the new epidemic prevention and control measures, and continue to promote the development of the performing arts market and serve the general public. Starting from Feb 16, applications for commercial performances involving people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan were resumed.

Long March 11 rocket hits 16 launches

China's Long March 11 carrier rocket has successfully carried out 16 consecutive launches as of Wednesday, according to its developer. A Long March 11 rocket on Wednesday evening sent the experimental satellite Shiyan 19 into space, marking the rocket's 16th successful launch since it was put into service in 2015, according to China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. A four-stage solid launch vehicle, the Long March 11 carrier rocket is about 21 meters long and weighs 57.7 metric tons, with its maximum diameter reaching two meters. It has been developed to launch small spacecraft into solar synchronous orbit and low Earth orbit, with a carrying capacity to solar synchronous orbit of 500 kg.
