BSE govt bond sales top 1.4 trillion yuan
The Beijing Stock Exchange said it assisted in issuing government bonds worth around 1.42 trillion yuan ($206.4 billion) by the end of February. Treasury bond issuances amounted to 1.17 trillion yuan, while local government bonds were worth 243.11 billion yuan. In February alone, the BSE issued 223.64 billion yuan of government bonds, of which treasury bond sales reached 148 billion yuan and local government bond sales totaled 75.64 billion yuan.
Chinese yuan up at 6.8808 vs greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 592 pips to 6.8808 against the US dollar on Thursday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, on each trading day, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate. The rate is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers.
