China's mobile phone shipments shrink in Jan-Sept period

China's shipments of mobile phones saw a decline from January to September this year, Xinhua reported on Tuesday.

China's mobile phone shipments totaled 196 million units, down 21.1 percent year-on-year in the domestic market in the first nine months of this year, the report said.

In the same period, 5G mobile phone shipments reached 153 million units, accounting for 78.2 percent of the total amount, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

The shipments of 5G mobile phones shrank 16.4 percent year-on-year in the January to September period, according to CAICT.
