Intercity railway hastens construction
East China's Anhui and Jiangsu provinces are speeding up the building of a 54.23-kilometer commuter rail line to better link the two provinces amid integration of the Yangtze River Delta region. The Nanjing-Maanshan Intercity Railway will help slash travel between Nanjing, Jiangsu's provincial capital, and Maanshan in Anhui, to 30 minutes upon beginning operations in 2025. With 20 stations and partially being built by China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd, construction on the line began in December 2020. On Wednesday, a construction campaign was launched in Maanshan to hasten its completion.

Road transport investment reached 2.34 trillion yuan, up 9.6 percent. Inland waterway investment rose 9.2 percent to 63.4 billion yuan.
