Wishes pour in for PRC anniversary
Congratulating nation, foreign leaders hail achievements, stress growing ties
BEIJING — Leaders of many countries and international organizations have recently telephoned or sent letters to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of the People's Republic of China, or PRC, among other Chinese leaders, to warmly congratulate the PRC on its 73rd founding anniversary. They also wished full success for the coming 20th National Congress of the CPC.
French President Emmanuel Macron, on behalf of the French people, extended his warmest congratulations for the anniversary, saying that France and China should deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership and promote cooperation in various fields.
France fully supports China in chairing the second phase of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity and achieving positive results, Macron added.
Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos said that over the past 70 years and more, China has blazed an extraordinary trail of national construction and steadily embarked on the road of building a modern socialist country in an allround way.
President Xi's leadership has provided a strong guarantee for China's great achievements in such areas as economic construction, poverty reduction and eradication, as well as scientific and technological progress, Marcos said.
Malaysia's supreme head of state, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Xi, the Chinese government and the Chinese people, expressing his confidence that under Xi's leadership, relations between Malaysia and China and their peoples will be further strengthened in the future.
He said he looks forward to working with Xi to promote the continued development and prosperity of the two countries and the region.
Pakistani President Arif Alvi said that China has become an active contributor to promoting peace and harmony as well as a staunch supporter of promoting South-South cooperation.
These great achievements are attributed to the foresight of the Chinese leadership and the hard work of the Chinese people, said Alvi.
On behalf of the Indian government and people and in her own name, Indian President Droupadi Murmu extended her warm greetings and congratulations to Xi, the Chinese government and people, expressing her hope to promote India-China bilateral relations.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that as two developing countries and emerging economies, India and China have important roles and responsibilities in promoting the healthy and positive development of the region and the wider world. Peaceful and stable India-China relations are of paramount importance, he said, adding that India is ready to work with China to this end.
Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari wished success for the 20th National Congress of the CPC. She said the two countries firmly respect each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity and national independence, and understand each other's legitimate concerns and sensitive issues, which underpin the foundation of Nepal-China ties.
Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh said that the Chinese people have made great achievements in rapid and sustainable development and enhancing the country's influence with their own creativity, innovation and intelligence.
Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio reiterated that his country will stand shoulder to shoulder with China in the spirit of brotherhood and continue to support China in its efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity and achieve complete reunification.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said the Venezuela-China comprehensive strategic partnership is a model of unity, solidarity and coordination. Venezuela will continue to support the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, and work together with China to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
In a joint letter to President Xi, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice-President Rosario Murillo expressed appreciation for China's extraordinary contribution to human civilization and the important role China plays in building a multipolar, fair and just new world order, saying this has set a model for unity and cooperation among countries.
Fruitful ties
El Salvador's President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez said El Salvador joins brotherly China in celebrating the anniversary, and relations between the two countries are a living example of countries developing fruitful ties on the basis of sincere friendship, equality and mutual respect.
Surinamese President Chandrikapersad Santokhi wished the 20th National Congress of the CPC a complete success, saying that under the leadership of Xi, the CPC has been leading the Chinese people in sticking to the socialist path with Chinese characteristics, scoring a complete victory in the fight against poverty.
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he firmly believes that under the leadership of President Xi, China will realize the second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects and make great strides toward realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that since the reform and opening-up, China has undergone earthshaking changes, built a moderately prosperous society in all respects and achieved poverty alleviation and reduction on an unprecedented scale.
As China moves toward its long-term goals, its peaceful development will not only benefit the Chinese people but also the region and the world, he said, wishing the PRC lasting peace, progress and success.
