Wu Lei's brace helps Shanghai Port beat Chengdu
BEIJING - Chinese international Wu Lei showcased his prowess, scoring a brace to help Shanghai Port rout Chengdu Rongcheng 3-0 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Thursday.
The star striker netted a lob in the 39th minute, his first goal in the CSL after returning to Shanghai Port from Spanish La Liga side Espanyol, and dismantled his opponents with a low drive in the box in the 51st minute.
His teammate Lyu Wenjun scored a tap-in in the 21st minute, contributing to the third consecutive win for Shanghai Port.
"I felt happier because the most important thing was that we won our third straight game," said Wu after the game.
Shanghai Shenhua edged Dalian Pro 2-1 in a comeback win, as forward Zhu Jianrong scored in the 87th and 90th minutes.
Elsewhere, Cangzhou Mighty Lions eased past Wuhan FC 4-1. Xu Dong's early goal in the third minute could not help Wuhan hold off Cangzhou's fierce attack, as Oscar Maritu and Deabeas Owusu combined four goals.
