Internet sector revenue grows a bit
China's internet companies reported 0.1 percent year-on-year growth in business revenue to 717 billion yuan ($105.86 billion) in the first half of this year, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed on Wednesday. The operating costs rose 5.4 percent year-on-year, but profits fell by 6.2 percent year-on-year to 64.54 billion yuan. The decline, however, narrowed by 8.6 percentage points from that for the first five months.
China Railway Group overseas biz surges
China Railway Group Ltd, a leading construction and engineering contractor worldwide, reported a surge in overseas business in the first half. The company has signed new contracts worth 79.83 billion yuan ($11.79 billion) in overseas markets in the January-June period, soaring 90.7 percent year-on-year, according to a report it filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
