BEIJING - The wholesale prices of China's agricultural products edged up on Monday, data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed.

The latest China agricultural product wholesale price index came in at 123.04, up 0.42 points from last Friday.

By 2 pm Monday, the average wholesale price of pork, China's staple meat, went down 0.5 percent from last Friday to 30.37 yuan ($4.5) per kg, while that of eggs stood at 9.99 yuan per kg, up 0.6 percent.

The average wholesale price of 28 key types of vegetables tracked by the government rose 0.9 percent to 4.71 yuan per kg, while that of six key types of fruits dropped 1.3 percent to 7.06 yuan per kg.

The wholesale price index is compiled on the basis of data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and is updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruits, aquatic products, livestock products, cereals and edible vegetable oil.
