CNOOC finishes deepwater jacket
Haiji One, Asia's first 300-meter deepwater jacket designed and built independently by China National Offshore Oil Corp, finished construction on Friday, said its operator CNOOC, the country's top offshore oil and gas producer. The project is expected to be put into operation during the second half of this year to serve the Lufeng 15-1 oil field platform located in the South China Sea, it said. As a major breakthrough in jacket design and a milestone in the construction of a super large offshore oil and gas platform in China, Haiji One will further improve the country's energy supply and guarantee its energy security.
World 5G Convention in Harbin from Aug 10
The 2022 World 5G Convention will be held from August 10 to 12 in Harbin, the capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, the event organizers said. The event, to be held both online and offline, aims to bring together the latest achievements and viewpoints of 5G development in the world, draw a blueprint for a global system of science and technology as well as industrial cooperation, and build a platform for the close integration of the 5G innovation chain, industrial chain, and supply chain.
Renewable energy capacity to expand
East China's Jiangsu province, the country's manufacturing heartland, will see its renewable energy consumption rise to over 15 percent of the province's total energy consumption by 2025, according to a recently released plan for renewable energy development. The province's installed capacity of renewable energy is expected to exceed 66 million kilowatts by 2025, accounting for over 34 percent of the province's total installed power-generation capacity. Of the province's total renewable energy capacity, the installed photovoltaic power capacity will reach over 35 million kilowatts, while the wind power capacity will exceed 28 million kilowatts by 2025. Jiangsu plans to build offshore wind power bases in its eastern coastal areas to meet the demand for clean energy.
