Logistics up 3%in Jan-May period
China's logistics sector reported 3 percent year-on-year growth in the first five months of this year, an industry report showed on Tuesday. Social logistics rose to 128.8 trillion yuan ($19.24 trillion), said the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. On a monthly basis, the growth rate edged up 0.5 percent in May, compared with a decline of 3 percent in April. Since May, the COVID-19 situation has improved with production gradually restored. Overall, logistics demand has maintained expansion and the growth rate has slightly increased, the report stated.
Sanmen nuclear power project makes progress
The second phase of the Sanmen nuclear power plant located in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, commenced construction on Tuesday, said its operator China National Nuclear Corp. The plant is expected to have an installed capacity of 5 million kilowatts after the second phase, consisting of units 3 and 4, is put into operation. It is expected to generate 40 billion kilowatt-hours each year, equivalent to reducing 30 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the company said.
