NEW AIRPORT IN SICHUAN
An Airbus A320 passenger jet of Chengdu Airlines landed at Dazhou Jinya Airport on Thursday, marking the launch of the new airport in the mountainous city of Dazhou, Southwest China's Sichuan province. The airport is 19 kilometers from downtown Dazhou, which is the core area of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. Built with an investment of 2.66 billion yuan ($396 million), the airport is designed to meet an annual passenger throughput of 2.35 million and an annual cargo throughput of 21,000 metric tons by 2030.
TIBET TOURISM COUPONS
The Tibet autonomous region began issuing coupons worth a total of 30 million yuan ($4.46 million) on Thursday to spur tourism consumption, according to the regional tourism development department. The coupons can be used to reduce the prices of tickets to tourist attractions in Tibet, sightseeing buses inside the attractions, transportation and starred hotels, said Huang Yongqing, deputy head of the department.
NATIONWIDE CELEBRATIONS
To celebrate the 12th China Tourism Day on Thursday, a series of events and activities were held across the country on-site and online. Pingyao, an ancient city in Shanxi province, was designated the main venue. During the celebrations, nearly 5,000 measures were rolled out nationwide to benefit tourists, Shanxi Daily reported. The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region announced earlier this month that it would launch more than 900 events and activities across the region during May and June, involving tourism, sports, arts, museums, libraries and cultural centers.
OVERSEAS PARTNERSHIP
Wanda Hotels & Resorts has signed a deal with overseas assets management company Beautyland Group for Golden Coast, a deluxe apartment hotel in Athens, Greece. The project, scheduled to start operations at the end of 2024, will include 97 guest rooms each installed with a smart home management system and state-of-the-art amenities. High-end dining and fitness facilities are incorporated into the commercial property's design. The two companies said the Golden Coast project marks the start of their cooperation and they will join hands to explore the overseas expansion of Chinese hospitality brands.
WEDDING VENUES
InterContinental Qingdao in East China's Shandong province recommends its luxurious Inter-Continental Ballroom and 620-square-meter Ocean Ballroom, capable of hosting 300 people, as wedding venues. The hotel's garden supplements the wedding with an open-air extension. In addition, the hotel in the coastal city of Qingdao offers cruise wedding services, according to its executives.
