2 rockets hit air base housing US experts

Two Katyusha rockets hit an air base housing United States military experts and agencies in Iraq's western province of Anbar on Saturday, the Iraqi military said. The two rockets landed in the Ayn al-Asad air base in the evening near the town of al-Baghdadi. There were no casualties, said a statement from the Iraqi Joint Operations Command's media office. Ahmed al-Dulaimi, a colonel from Anbar Operations Command, told Xinhua that Iraqi forces found two rocket launchers several kilometers from the air base and the incident is under investigation.

1 dead, several injured in Mississippi shooting

One person died and several others were injured following a shooting at a festival in Mississippi, sheriff officials said. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said on social media that several people were taken to local hospitals on Saturday night with unknown injuries, and one person was confirmed dead at the scene. Jones said the incident occurred at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds, which is hosting the Mississippi Mudbug Festival.

Low-carbon zone unveiled in Vientiane

The inauguration ceremony of the Vientiane Saysettha Low-Carbon Demonstration Zone jointly built by China and Laos was held via video conference on Friday. The event indicates a new phase has begun in the construction of the demonstration zone, opening a new chapter for China-Laos cooperation to address climate change in the framework of South-South cooperation. Located in the Lao capital Vientiane, the SDZ covers an area of 11.5 square kilometers.

8 children killed in tricycle accident

At least eight children were killed on Saturday as a passenger tricycle overturned and sank in an irrigation channel in Egypt's Nile Delta province of Beheira, said the country's public prosecution in a statement. The eight were among 12 passengers riding the tricycle on their way home from work at a factory in a town in Beheira, north of the capital Cairo, according to the statement. The other four survived the accident.
