Since many Mongolian employees were participating in construction work for the first time, CREC4 management team members were diligent in teaching them work skills and technical standards, company officials said.

Sukhbaatar studied and passed the project assessment and became a team leader, managing some 20 workers.

"I had a handsome income during the construction work. Working with CREC4 has changed my life, and I believe that with the business skills I learned, I can find another job," he said.

In Angola, local staff member Jacinto Jose Miguel Angolares worked as an administrator at the Angola Project Management Department of CREC4 First Engineering Co Ltd.

He started as a driver when he joined the Chinese company in September 2018 and worked his way up to safe production administrator and security technician.

"Besides receiving a monthly salary sufficient for my daily needs and for my family members, I also acquire new knowledge every day here, laying a solid foundation for me to have a better future," he said.

CREC4 has its mechanisms and role models to motivate local employees to develop their abilities, and local employees will in turn reward it in the same way, he said, adding, "The company has never let me down."

In Costa Rica, when a CREC4-built urban water supply plant was handed over to local operators on March 24, the CREC4 manager for the project, Gong Huadong, gave a sigh of relief.

Gong said the builders expect the third China-aided project in the Central American nation will improve water quality and quantity for residents.

CREC4 staffers had begun in August to train local employees to run the plant, covering theoretical and practical matters.

Gong said that after the handover, "There will be 15 locals running the water plant".
