"It is hard to walk quickly in thick snow. Our shoes become extremely wet when we walk for several hours," she said.
They also had a few memorable brushes with danger over the years.
"We have come close to some wild animals, such as bears and wild boars, and we also encountered flood in the summer" she said. "Fortunately, we didn't get injured."
Over the past days, they have stopped several people who nearly crossed the border by mistake and prevented more than 30 people from illegal hunting.
"We have walked at least 100,000 km along the border line over the past years," Xue said. "We will never stop until the day we can't move."
